The Origins of Mother’s Day
Although the particular importance since the beginning of time is given to mothers , the idea of devoting them a feast day has emerged during the time of the Greeks and Romans. In Greece , they already had the custom of celebrating the two goddesses Rhea and Cybele, Mother of Gods divine . Every year at the beginning of spring , a grand ceremony is organized in their honor. In Rome , they celebrate the feast of Matraliae (from the Latin mater ).
It is therefore we found the traces of Mother’s Day from the fifteenth century. Indeed, in England it was accustomed to celebrate Mothering Sunday the 4th Sunday of Lent. Then it was the turn of the US to create a special day for mothers. Proposed by a young woman who has just lost his mother , the official day in honor of World Moms was established in 1907 by the US government.
In France, it is said that it was Napoleon who had for the first time given the idea of inventing a moms day. But it was only in 1918 that the city of Lyon inaugurated the first Mother’s Day to honor the mothers and wives who lost their husbands and son during the war. This day then formalized in 1929 and registered in the calendar in 1941 on the 2nd Sunday of May.

Purses mussels with cream cheese and mashed olives

For molds: 1kg fresh mussels 1 cup of ouzo 1 cup water 2 cloves garlic, 1 chopped celery stalk For the sauce 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 finely chopped onions 2 green peppers finely chopped 1 small green pepper, seeded and chopped 2 firm tomatoes, ripe, peeled, seeded and chopped olives to the olive puree 200gr Kalamata pitted 1 teaspoon dried rosemary 1 anchovies 2 tablespoons oil olive For the cheese cream: Greek yogurt drained 60gr 60gr Smoked Metsovone or any other smoked cheese buttermilk 60ml 60gr of 500gr crumbled feta fresh pasta dough, room temperature ½ to ¾ of a cup of butter sheep’s milk or the same amount of olive oil over low chaufée Chopped fresh parsley fire to the Presentation.
Clean the mussels and Scrape the shells. Make them open steamed in ouzo, water, garlic and celery. Drain and cool, remove the mussels from their shells and reserve. – Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a nonstick skillet. Fry with onions until they soften. Add the peppers, chilies and tomatoes and simmer, keep the pot uncovered to evaporate much of the juice. Make this sauce. – In the bowl of a blender grind the olives, rosemary, anchovies and olive oil. The mixture should form a thick paste. In the same bowl mix the yoghurt, cheese and buttermilk until it become smooth mixture. – Roll out the dough and cut 20 to 24 of 6cm diameter discs. Boil a large pot of salted water. dip a mold or two on each drive, add a spoonful of sauce, a little olive puree and cheese mixture. Use a toothpick to hold in place. Put this discs 3 minutes in boiling water. Remove them with a slotted spoon and sprinkle with sheep butter chips or slightly warmed olive oil and chopped parsley.
